Creativity with purpose
There’s been a huge amount of change in the 20 years I’ve been in the creative industry. The biggest change is the ongoing impact of technology and how it fundamentally affects our lives and how we do business. As a creative agency, our challenge is to maximise the opportunities available to our clients - without ever compromising effective design, their brand or user experience. It’s this that makes working in our industry so rewarding.
My role is all about meeting and exceeding client expectations. I like to take the time to understand the big picture as this lays a strong foundation for a fruitful partnership. I'm also a strong advocate of a strategic, holistic approach which, I believe, achieves the best results. Tailoring our services to help clients address pain points and meet long term objectives is really rewarding.
My role at Workbrands is mostly to shout about how fabulous the team are at their jobs and get involved with some of the amazing initiatives we work with in Bristol. Since graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in English Literature I’ve worked in social media, PR and communications for businesses, venues and live events. Outside of work I DJ on the good ship Thekla in the harbourside, buy too many clothes and read lots (and lots) of books…
I’m a fresh-out-of-Plymouth graduate and my journey into the professional design world started with a small London internship before moving back to my home city: Bristol. Lucky for me, I woke up one morning to see Workbrands thought I was OUT OF THIS WORLD (my words; not theirs) and that they wanted me in for a placement, which turned into a job offer.
I joined Workbrands with a background of working with various FMCG and B2B clients and a knack for proofreading the life out of anything and everything. A pop culture fan who also loves comedy and the theatre, I’m fascinated by how people think, the little nuances in how we communicate with each other and interact with brands.
As well as the day-to-day running of a busy agency, I manage all project development for our brand management solution, Flex - from establishing client requirements through to build and beta testing, culminating in the delivery of intelligent and considered campaigns. What I like about Workbrands? Everything! The people, the enthusiasm, the fun side, the serious side, the wealth of knowledge and talent and especially the curry nights!
My role is to tell a brand's story and turn great ideas into effective creative solutions. And that’s what I love doing. Every day I’m inspired by the different clients we work with and the challenges they present to us. At Workbrands, we work very well as a team and share the same vision. With a passion for original ideas and an eye for detail, I strive to create designs that positively affect a brand and engage its audience.
I specialise in design for digital output, so I’m usually up to my eyeballs in After Effects. Working with animation, I’m always on the lookout for new ways of making brands more relevant and engaging on screen. I enjoy being part of Bristol’s vibrant design community and wearing shorts in the midst of summer, and winter.
After a couple of years working for creative agencies in Bath, I joined the Workbrands team during the second national lockdown. I’m particularly interested in typography, branding and accessibility. I like to create work that is functional and user-driven, but with playful concepts and a great finish. Outside of the studio I (try) to inspire younger minds, having spent some time teaching on my old design course at Bath Spa Uni, as well as taking teens out hiking and building campfires as an Explorer Scout leader.
After eleven years leading new business at creative agencies in Bristol, London and Bath, I joined Workbrands to help grow the agency through intelligent business development. Essentially, this means building long-term relationships with clients past, present and future who may benefit from our expertise. And having fun doing it – which isn’t difficult with the team we’ve got here.
I joined Workbrands in 2008, having previously worked at Natwest, Barclays and GE capital. I’m responsible for the day-to-day operations, looking after our accounts and general admin. I think it’s great to work in a creative environment and I like that no two days are ever the same.
Having worked at agencies in both Bristol and Bath, I found my place at Workbrands where I specialise in corporate identity design and web design for clients large and small. I’m fascinated by the speed at which technology progresses and influences our next steps. For me, design is about being able to knock the socks off our clients. It’s about creating forward thinking solutions that influence people’s decisions. That’s what drives me.
I relocated to the balloons and bright skies of buzzy Bristol in 2016 after 5 years in London and I'm pleased to say I’m I here to stay. My role involves working closely with our clients, getting to know them and aiming to exceed expectations at every opportunity. We have a lovely team here - very talented with a great mix of complementary skills - so I know that our clients are in good hands!
