Last Wednesday, our Director, Nick, was invited to speak at a DBA (Design Business Association) panel discussion. Delving into the topic of agency growth, the talk was one of a series of national events open to DBA members where those in the industry could come along and exchange views with fellow design business owners over a drink or two.
Alongside Nick, other panellists included Brian Mansfield and Kate Lenton from Taxi Studio, and Merle Hall and Craig Wightman from Kinneir Dufort. They each discussed the risks and opportunities of growth, the personal leadership qualities required for an agency to grow, and how to put the right resources in place to achieve growth targets.
So, for those that missed the event, we’ve distilled Nick’s advice into four key tips:
Seek the advice of everybody you can
Invest in your team
Practice what you preach (i.e. look after your own brand and marketing)
Look after the day-to-day (infrastructure to make sure your agency runs smoothly)
